France, Queen Mary 2, Harmony of the Seas so many legendary liners built in Saint-Nazaire. Patrice, participates in the design of these giants of the seas by bringing her experience on the technical functions of furniture for the layout of the crew and passenger cabins.
An increase in the order book over the past two years
The Chantiers de l’Atlantique usually build one liner per year. Over the period 2019 to 2026, the delivery rate will be 2 ships per year, 3 of which will be among the largest ships in the world. To strengthen the design office, the company had been looking for several months for a manager of technical furniture functions for the fitting out of the crew and passenger cabins. A profile that must have had strong experience in the manufacture of furniture in design and industrialisation as well as knowledge in product development with French and foreign suppliers
Facilitate the assembly of operators
With 30 years of experience in various companies manufacturing home furnishings, shop and hotel furnishings and in the marine sector, I was able to take on the responsibility of technical furniture functions. In concrete terms, I write the specific specifications. I work with the draughtsmen on the various possible furniture designs with the aim of making assembly as easy as possible for operators. Industrialisation is also very important for reducing manufacturing costs. I also develop new products with suppliers, initially with a prototype phase and then follow-up during the first manufacturing steps.
An exceptional industrial adventure
The Chantiers de l’Atlantique are one of the largest, oldest, and at the same time, one of the most innovative shipyards in the world. Everything here is gigantic. I discover another field of activity, which is very formative on a daily basis. This project also involves being in daily contact with all the company’s departments in order to deal with different subjects: quality, logistics, production… I also do studies. I have just completed a study on the lightening of the materials used to make furniture. And what I appreciate most is working and collaborating with many people with different profiles, both internally and externally.
